Košice wins court dispute against EEI parking company

The Municipal Court in Košice has ordered the parking company EEI to pay the city more than 6.14 million euros in compensation for unjust enrichment. The ruling follows previous decisions by various courts, including the Supreme Court, which declared the 2012 lease agreement and its subsequent amendments invalid because they violated the road laws in effect at the time.

The court found that the city could not legally entrust paid parking operations to a private entity in 2012. The ordered amount represents the difference between the more than 10.4 million euros collected by EEI from parking fees and recognized investment costs and returned rent totaling over 4.3 million euros. Additionally, the court dismissed a countersuit by EEI for damages exceeding 10 million euros.

EEI has filed an appeal against the decision, meaning the ruling is not yet legally binding. The company stated it does not agree with the verdict and will not comment further while the legal proceedings continue.
