Kojagari Lakshmi Puja 2026: Dates and Rituals

Kojagari Lakshmi Puja will be observed on Sunday, October 25, 2026. According to the Kolkata-based calculations of Dik Panchang, the Purnima Tithi is expected to begin at approximately 11:55 AM on October 25 and conclude at 9:41 AM on October 26.

The auspicious time for midnight puja (Nishith Puja) is scheduled between 10:56 PM and 11:46 PM. The festival, which falls on the Bengali date of 7 Kartik, 1433, is centered around the belief that Goddess Lakshmi visits homes during the Sharad Purnima night to bless those who remain awake.

Traditional customs include decorating homes with alpana and drawing the footprints of the Goddess. Vastu guidelines suggest specific placements for these footprints, such as near the prayer room, places where money and jewelry are kept, and grain storage areas, to invite prosperity. Conversely, it is advised to avoid drawing footprints directly in front of main doors, near bathrooms, or on stairs to prevent them from being stepped upon.
