Koji Yakusho stars in new Netflix series ‘Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?’

Netflix has released behind-the-scenes footage and interviews for the upcoming human comedy series ‘Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?’ (Ore no Koto, Nanka Itteta?), starring Koji Yakusho and written by Kankuro Kudo. The series is scheduled for exclusive global release on October 22, 2026.

The story follows Gen Takasegawa (Yakusho), a famous actor who returns to Japan after a successful stage run in London, only to find himself completely forgotten by the public and his family. The plot explores themes of the desire for recognition as the protagonist attempts to rebuild his life from scratch.

In the released footage, screenwriter Kankuro Kudo expresses surprise at Yakusho’s immersive acting approach, noting the actor’s willingness to perform physically demanding roles, such as training as a sauna heatwave professional and wearing a cow costume at a concept cafe. The production also features filming locations ranging from the Shakespeare's Globe in London to the Suzunari theater in Shimokitazawa. The ensemble cast includes Kento Kaku, Kenichi Matsuyama, Noriko Eguchi, Yuumi Kawai, and Masatoshi Hamada.
