Koka opens 20 million euro automated hatchery in Varaždin

The poultry producer Koka has inaugurated a new hatchery in Varaždin, Croatia, representing a self-financed investment of 20 million euros. The facility spans approximately 7,000 square meters and is designed to produce an annual capacity of 45 million day-old chicks.

The hatchery utilizes advanced SmartSense technology, which allows for the digital monitoring and regulation of microclimatic conditions during incubation. It also features SmartControl for centralized process management. Due to high levels of automation in sorting and stacking, the facility operates with only 39 employees while processing 30,000 eggs per hour.

Koka emphasizes that this investment strengthens its integrated production model, which includes its own parent flocks, feed factory, and meat industry. This vertical integration is intended to ensure production security and supply stability during crises such as bird flu or regional movement restrictions.
