Koke Iglesias returns to Deportiva Ponferradina

Defender Koke Iglesias has officially returned to Deportiva Ponferradina following a loan spell last season. The player has signed a contract for one season, with an additional optional year contingent on the club achieving promotion to the Segunda División.

Iglesias expressed significant enthusiasm about returning to the club, stating, “I wanted to return to where I have been happiest.” He noted that the transfer process was complex due to his existing contract with Real Valladolid, where he spent 13 years, but emphasized his desire to be back in Ponferrada once the opportunity arose.

Reflecting on his previous season, Iglesias described it as “incredible” despite the disappointing final outcome. He expressed gratitude toward the coaching staff, management, and fans for their trust. While acknowledging internal competition for positions, he remains committed to the team and noted he is open to playing in different roles, such as a central midfielder, as requested by the manager.
