Koksara Lukavac begins partial sale of assets to pay former workers

The bankruptcy process for Koksara Lukavac has entered a new phase involving the partial sale of its production units to settle multi-million mark debts owed to former workers and creditors. Following three unsuccessful attempts to sell the entire complex, the bankruptcy administrator, Almir Bajrić, announced that individual assets will be offered for sale by the end of the year.

The first asset, the Modrac filter station, has already been sold to the City of Lukavac for over 3 million KM. Upcoming sales are expected to include the AMK, Energana, and Azotara factories, as well as land along the Lukavac–Doboj highway intended for a business zone. There is reported interest from European Union investors due to the facilities' energy capacities and railway connectivity.

Regarding worker compensation, more than 2.5 million KM is scheduled to be paid out to former employees around October 23. This payment is expected to cover approximately 50 to 60 percent of their total claims, including severance pay. Former workers have previously protested to demand faster settlements and the recognition of their years of service for pension purposes.
