Kokurojo film to be released on Blu-ray and DVD in November 2026

The Blu-ray and DVD for the film ‘Kokurojo’ (Black Castle) are scheduled for release on November 6, 2026. Directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, the Sengoku-era psychological mystery has become a significant commercial success, surpassing 1.1 billion yen in box office revenue.

Based on the novel by Nobuhiko Yonezawa, the film features a prominent cast including Masahiro Motoki, Masaki Suda, and Yuriko Yoshitaka. The production gained international recognition, appearing in the Cannes Film Festival’s Cannes Premiere section and receiving praise from director Martin Scorsese.

A limited-edition deluxe Blu-ray set will be available, featuring a special monochrome version of the film and over 150 minutes of bonus content, including making-of footage, interviews, and event recordings from the Cannes Film Festival and various premieres.
