Koleje Śląskie sees 80% rise in senior ticket sales via mobile app

Koleje Śląskie has reported a significant increase in rail travel among seniors. In the first half of 2026, passengers aged 60 and older purchased over 10,300 tickets via the Kaeśka mobile application, representing an 80% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

The surge in usage is attributed to a multi-faceted strategy involving dedicated SENIOR 60+ pricing, the development of the Kaeśka app, and investments in accessible rolling stock. Specifically, the operator is expanding its fleet of Impuls 2 low-floor trains, which feature wide entrances and accessible toilets to assist elderly passengers and those with limited mobility. Currently, 15 of these new units are in service, with a target fleet of 35.

Tomasz Niedziela, Vice President of Commercial Affairs at Koleje Śląskie, stated that the company aims to view accessibility broadly, encompassing everything from easy connection planning and affordable ticket purchases to comfortable boarding and travel.
