Kolkata Airport security alert following bomb threat on IndiGo flight
A bomb threat discovered on an IndiGo flight from Phuket to Kolkata triggered a major security operation at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday. The threat, written on a washroom mirror, was discovered by cabin crew after the aircraft landed at 2:05 p.m.
Following the discovery, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay where the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), bomb squad, and airport police conducted a thorough search. Passengers were evacuated and remained on the tarmac for approximately two hours before being allowed into the terminal around 4:30 p.m. No suspicious objects were recovered during the inspection.
This incident marks the second consecutive day of bomb scares at the Kolkata airport, following a handwritten note found in a women’s restroom on Friday. Authorities suspect the messages may have been intended to create panic, and police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and passenger lists to identify those responsible.
