Kolkata police investigate death of cab driver found tied inside vehicle

The body of an app-based cab driver, identified as 44 or 45-year-old Bhagwan Prasad Gupta, was discovered inside a parked vehicle in the Entally area of Kolkata on Wednesday. The victim was found with blood stains on his face and his legs tied with rope.

Local residents raised suspicions after noticing the vehicle had been stationary for an extended period. Upon arrival, police found the vehicle locked from the inside, requiring a mechanic to break the lock to access the interior.

Investigators from the Kolkata Police Homicide Department, Detective Department, and Scientific Wing have secured the scene. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage and attempting to identify the last person seen with Gupta on Tuesday night. While police have not officially confirmed murder, they are investigating all possibilities, including personal enmities, as they await the results of a post-mortem examination.
