Kolkata police hold bicycle rally during Road Safety Week
On 8 August, Kolkata Police organized a bicycle rally as part of Road Safety Week 2026 to raise public awareness of traffic rules and safe riding practices. The event was overseen by Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Nanda and aimed to encourage helmet use and other safety measures among two‑wheeler riders.
The rally began at Victoria Memorial, passed Prince Ghat and concluded in Lalbazar, covering roughly 8–10 km. About 150 participants – including police officers and members of local cycling clubs – took part. It formed one of several activities during a week‑long campaign that also targeted school children and the broader community, with a final closing program scheduled for the following Sunday.
