Kolkata Police inducts 183 Ultraviolette electric motorcycles

The Kolkata Police has inducted 183 Ultraviolette X-47 ‘Skyforce’ electric motorcycles into its fleet, marking one of the largest deployments of electric motorcycles by an Indian police force to date. The official handover ceremony took place at the Lalbazar Police Headquarters on September 18, 2026.

Designed specifically for law enforcement, the X-47 Skyforce is a crossover motorcycle featuring a modified electronic architecture to support tactical equipment. The police-specific variant includes integrated sirens, hooters, a public address system, LED blinkers, decals, and holders for microphones and walkie-talkies, along with side panniers for gear.

Performance specifications for the motorcycles include a top speed of 145 km/h and a single-charge IDC range of 211 km. The transition to electric vehicles is intended to modernize the department's mobility through sustainable technology while potentially reducing long-term energy and maintenance costs.
