Kolkata Police Probe Unidentified Body Found Outside New Town Shop

On the morning of 29 July, a shop owner in Kolkata’s New Town neighbourhood discovered an unidentified man lying dead outside a food stall near the Ram Temple. Police from the Eco Park station secured the scene, took the body into custody and sent it for a post‑mortem examination. The victim’s identity has not yet been established, and officials note a mark on the forehead that may indicate injury, though they have not ruled out a fall.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and coordinating with other police stations to trace the man’s movements before his death. The incident follows a similar discovery of a youth’s body in the Dam Dam Park area on 23 July, which had already heightened local residents’ concerns about safety.

Authorities have classified the case under “unnatural deaths” and are continuing their inquiries to determine the cause and circumstances of the death.
