Kollum hosts inaugural Lichtjestocht boat parade

The inaugural Lichtjestocht in Kollum drew significant crowds on Friday evening as approximately thirty decorated boats participated in a light parade. Organized by Bea Zuidema in collaboration with WSV Kollum, the event featured a ‘Winter’ theme, with vessels adorned in lights and seasonal decorations.

The parade route included Meckama State, the three-point bridge, the Kollumer Canal, and the Trekvaart. Live music by Duo Meester accompanied the procession, which began around 19:30. A four-person jury evaluated the boats for a decoration prize, with the ceremony held at the harbor building following the tour.

Due to the high level of public engagement and enthusiasm from participants, organizer Bea Zuidema has confirmed plans for a second edition of the event next year.
