Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital marks 70th anniversary

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is marking its 70th anniversary with various activities, including inter-directorate sporting games held at the Paa Joe Stadium to promote staff teamwork and physical wellbeing.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, CEO of KATH, noted that the facility is seeing increased demand, receiving patients from 12 of Ghana's 16 regions and from international locations, including Mexico, specifically for services at the Cleft Centre. To address this, management is utilizing internally generated funds for infrastructure expansion, supported by government-led critical projects.

Dr. Yaw Opare Larbi, Deputy Medical Director, emphasized that the anniversary celebrations, which began in December 2025, aim to foster cohesion among the hospital's more than 6,000 staff members. Previous anniversary activities included a multidisciplinary health outreach in the Bono East Region.
