Kommissar Rex renewed for second season

Kommissar Rex TV reboot German television crime series Maximilian Brückner

The crime series reboot “Kommissar Rex” has been renewed for a second season following the success of its first season on Sat. 1. The new season is scheduled to air in early 2027 on Sat. 1 and via the Joyn streaming service.

Filming is currently underway in Vienna, with locations including the Prater, the Albertina, Hotel Sacher, and the State Opera. The upcoming season will consist of six feature-length episodes.

Maximilian Brückner will return as Max Steiner alongside the German Shepherd, Rex. The cast also includes Felix Seebacher as Inspector Felix Burger, Alfred Dorfer as Dr. Tom Wippler, and Doris Golpashin as Evelyn Leitner. New additions to the cast include Hilde Dalik as Paula Grobecker and Sophia Borchhardt as Anna.
