Komnas Palestina distributes 300,000 liters of water in Gaza
Komnas Palestina has distributed 300,000 liters of clean water to approximately 13,000 residents in the Mawashiy area of Khan Younis, Gaza. The aid operation, which represents Indonesian community support for Palestinians, took place over five days from September 3 to September 7, 2026.
The distribution utilized 75 water tankers, each carrying roughly 4,000 liters, to reach 11 different displacement camps. Muhammad Syarief, Chairman of Komnas Palestina, stated that the aid was delivered directly through partner volunteer teams to ensure it reached those in need.
This emergency response comes amid a severe water crisis in the Gaza Strip. According to UNICEF data, over 2 million people face uncertainty in accessing drinking water. Reports indicate that 82% of households experience water insecurity, and up to 70% of the population cannot access the minimum required 6 liters of water per person per day for drinking and cooking. The crisis is exacerbated by shortages of fuel, spare parts, and chemicals necessary for water treatment and desalination facilities.
