Komárom mayoral race features four candidates

Four candidates have submitted documentation to run for the mayoral position in Komárom for the upcoming municipal elections on October 24.

The current mayor, Béla Keszegh, is running as an independent with the support of 'Independents for Komárom'. He has led the city since 2018 and won the 2022 election with 74.74 percent of the valid votes.

Challenging him are Erzsébet Ďurenka, who is supported by several parties including SaS, Tím Kraj Nitra, and Magyar Fórum; Milan Králik, a retired police officer; and Július Banda, representing the MySlovensko mini-party. Notably, the Magyar Szövetség, which fielded a candidate in the previous election, will not run a mayoral candidate this time. The official list remains subject to verification by the election commission.
