KOMVaK to implement rainwater management systems in Komárno
KOMVaK, the water and sewage utility for Komárno, is launching a new investment project to improve rainwater management in the area between Pozsonyi Road (I/63) and the former shipyard site. The project aims to capture, temporarily store, and gradually infiltrate rainwater into the ground to address drainage challenges caused by dense urban development and limited space.
The initiative consists of three separate construction units located at Nefelejcs, Fácán, and Csaják streets. Technical solutions include underground infiltration devices, which will be installed beneath roads and paved surfaces to maximize space efficiency, alongside surface-level rain gardens and accumulation areas.
The project is co-financed by the Interreg program, with total costs amounting to 307,005.30 EUR. KOMVaK is contributing 8% of the total cost. Patrik Ruman, CEO of KOMVaK, stated that the measures will allow the city to systematically manage stormwater in locations where natural drainage is restricted, thereby modernizing the local water management infrastructure.
