Konak Municipality commemorates Şenel Aksu with memorial run

Konak Municipality, in collaboration with the Tülay Aktaş Voluntary Organizations Alliance, organized the 7th Şenel Aksu Memorial Run to honor the late activist Şenel Aksu on the 21st anniversary of her passing. Aksu was known for her dedication to women's rights and children's education.

The event included contributions from the Izmir branches of the Turkish Mothers Association, the Turkish Women's Council Association, and the Karşıyaka Soroptimist Club. Following the final stage held at the Halkapınar Sports Facility, an award ceremony was conducted at the Şenel Aksu Park in Toros for the winning students.

Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu attended the ceremony, where she encouraged the participating children to use Aksu as a role model. Mutlu emphasized the importance of leaving a meaningful legacy and maintaining the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and character.
