Turkish municipalities mark World Animal Protection Day
Various Turkish municipalities and organizations held events to mark World Animal Protection Day, focusing on animal welfare, education, and adoption.
In Kahramanmaraş, the Metropolitan Municipality and the Unclaimed Animal Protection Union have established 141,000 square meters of natural living areas in Kapıçam and Elbistan. These facilities provide safe environments for over 5,000 stray animals, with 3,000 receiving medical treatment this year.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality organized awareness programs for children, emphasizing the responsibility to protect animals. Officials noted the city's extensive veterinary services and specialized hospitals for injured animals.
In Kayseri, the Anadolu Wonders Land Zoo offered free admission to promote animal awareness, hosting approximately 1,600 animals across 136 species. Meanwhile, Anadolu Sigorta participated in the Kurtaran Ev Festival to support stray animal living conditions through its Kurtaran Vehicle project.
In Aydın, educational visits to pet care and rehabilitation centers helped students learn about sterilization, vaccination, and the importance of adoption.
