Konak Municipality launches welding training for women
Konak Municipality has launched a welding operator training course to increase female participation in the industrial sector. Organized in collaboration with the Cevdet İnci Education Foundation and the İzmir Dokuz Eylül Rotary Club, the program is part of the ‘Hem İşte Hem Eğitimde’ (Both at Work and in Education) initiative.
The course is designed for women aged 18 to 35 and will take place over 12 weeks on weekends at the Konak Job Training Center. Participants will receive both theoretical and practical training from experienced instructors. Upon successful completion and passing the exam, trainees will be eligible to receive certification from the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK).
In addition to technical welding skills, the program includes training in production, digital skills, social skills, and professional life. The initiative also features factory visits to provide students with direct exposure to the industrial sector. This follows previous successful programs, such as CNC operator training, aimed at strengthening women's economic independence and technical expertise.
