Konak Municipality partners with We Will Stop Femicide Platform

Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu has signed a landmark cooperation protocol with the We Will Stop Femicide Platform Association, marking a first of its kind in Türkiye. The partnership aims to defend women's right to life, expand the struggle for justice, and establish a stronger solidarity network to combat femicide.

The agreement focuses on joint efforts to address femicide and suspicious deaths of women in the Konak district, as well as violence against women and children. Key objectives include strengthening solidarity processes, monitoring legal cases, supporting access to women's rights, and implementing preventative measures against violence.

Mayor Mutlu noted that the initiative was prompted by data showing Konak ranks high in femicide statistics. The protocol was signed alongside Izmir representatives of the association, Tülin Osmanoğulları and Esra Akın, with support from various municipal council members and the Konak City Council Women's Assembly.
