Konak Municipality to reduce neighborhood count from 113 to 57

The Konak Municipality Council has unanimously approved a plan to restructure the administrative boundaries and names of its neighborhoods. According to the decision, the current 113 neighborhoods in Konak will be consolidated into 57 neighborhoods.

The restructuring follows legal requirements to ensure each neighborhood meets a minimum threshold of 300 households and 500 residents. Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu stated that the current neighborhood and mukhtar (headman) structures will remain unchanged until the next local elections, at which point the new boundaries will take effect.

Additionally, Mayor Mutlu announced progress regarding urban transformation. The municipality has completed the application process to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to declare a 1.1-hectare area in the 19 Mayıs neighborhood as a ‘Reserve Building Area’. An application process for Yeşildere has also commenced.
