Konami to release Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on modern consoles

Konami is set to release Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The collection is headlined by the long-awaited port of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive for nearly 18 years.

In addition to Metal Gear Solid 4, the volume includes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the Game Boy Color title Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. The collection also features various digital bonuses, such as the MGS4 Database, screenplay books, and a digital soundtrack.

Critical reception has been largely positive, with many reviewers praising the technical improvements. The remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker offer enhanced resolutions, improved textures, and more stable frame rates, with the PS5 and Switch 2 versions targeting 60 FPS. Some critics noted that while the collection is a significant achievement in game preservation, it lacks the extensive supplemental materials found in the first volume.
