Konami potentially used fan archives for Metal Gear Solid 4 port
Code analysis of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 has revealed strings within the Metal Gear Solid 4 executable that reference SaveMGO, a fan-led preservation project.
SaveMGO is a community initiative dedicated to maintaining the online components of the franchise after official servers were shut down in 2012. The discovery of these references suggests that Konami may have utilized the community's archives to recover lost content for the new collection. Specifically, fans theorize that original downloadable content (DLC), such as camouflage patterns for the character Snake, may have been restored using data preserved by the SaveMGO project.
While Konami has not officially commented on the technical integration, the presence of these strings indicates that the community's preservation efforts have directly impacted the official re-release of the title.
