Konami and Sony executives argue AI cannot replace human creativity
Gaming industry leaders from Konami Digital Entertainment, Take-Two Interactive, and Sony have expressed skepticism regarding the ability of artificial intelligence to replace human creativity in video game development.
Hideki Hayakawa, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, stated that while AI may improve production efficiency, the most critical factors for developing innovative and entertaining games remain human creators. He emphasized that the exchange of ideas between diverse teams of people is what leads to new types of gameplay, a process he believes cannot be easily replicated by AI.
Similarly, executives from Take-Two Interactive and Sony noted that because successful hits often stem from unexpected and unpredictable elements, datasets used to train AI are unlikely to replicate that level of creative breakthrough.
