Konavle Municipality celebrates 33rd anniversary and liberation

The Municipality of Konavle held a formal session in Cavtat to commemorate its 33rd anniversary and the 34th anniversary of its liberation. During the ceremony, several awards and commendations were presented to individuals and organizations for their contributions to the region.

Key award recipients included Fran Herendija for tourism promotion, Ana Čapin for education and cultural heritage, and the Epidaurus Cavtat Festival and Glazba&Riječ Festival for their cultural impact. The children's choir ‘Škatulica’ was also recognized for preserving traditional polyphonic singing. Additional commendations were given to the 855th Firefighting Squadron of the Ministry of Defence, the ‘Ivo Račić’ Maritime and Trade Academy, and several individuals for excellence in sports, healthcare, and humanitarian work.

Mayor Božo Lasić used the occasion to highlight major local developments, including a new primary school project valued at over 24 million euros. He emphasized the importance of investing in youth, improving communal infrastructure, and supporting the elderly. Lasić also addressed the need for sustainable tourism, agricultural preservation in Konavosko polje, and improved waste management and water governance.
