Konawe Selatan police arrest man for murder of woman

Police in Konawe Selatan, Southeast Sulawesi, have arrested a 30-year-old man named Jefri for the murder of 22-year-old Darma Yani, also known as Ana. The victim's body was discovered in a plantation area in Roraya Village, Tinanggea District, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

According to Konawe Selatan Police Chief AKBP Daeng Riandika Mahardani, the motive appears to be resentment and jealousy. The suspect had previously proposed to the victim, but the proposal was rejected by her family. The suspect's anger reportedly intensified after seeing the victim communicating with another man via mobile phone.

Medical examinations and autopsies revealed that the victim was subjected to brutal violence before her death. The suspect is currently being held at the Konawe Selatan Police Station as investigators continue to gather evidence and deepen their inquiry into the incident.
