Konecranes commits to 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050

Konecranes has announced a long-term climate ambition to reduce its absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050, using 2019 as the base year. This target aligns with the pathway to limit global warming to 1.5C under the Paris Agreement and follows the absolute emission reduction criteria of the SBTi Net-Zero Standard.

The company is also working toward near-term science-based targets, aiming for a 60% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Konecranes reported that it had already met its original 2030 target of halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2022.

To support these goals, Konecranes has completed the electrification of all its product lines, providing low-emission electric equipment to assist customers in their own decarbonization efforts. The company intends to continue reducing emissions across its operations and value chain by utilizing lower-emission materials and circular solutions.
