Konecta launches $100m Generative AI Centre and regional headquarters in Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology inaugurated the new regional headquarters of Spain‑based outsourcing firm Konecta in New Cairo. The facility marks a $100 million investment and the launch of Konecta’s first global Generative AI Centre of Excellence, intended to serve clients across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The centre currently employs about 800 Egyptian specialists delivering multilingual digital‑customer‑experience services in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. Konecta plans to grow the workforce to roughly 1,000 by the end of 2026 and to reach 3,000 specialists by 2028. The AI hub will develop, test and deploy solutions including the company’s proprietary “Kolibri” agentic AI platform, aimed at automating enterprise customer‑service workflows.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi highlighted the expansion as evidence of growing international confidence in Egypt’s digital economy, while Konecta’s Vice‑Chairperson for the Middle East and Africa Ahmed Al‑Harrany called the site the company’s regional headquarters and a showcase for Egyptian talent.
