Konfederacja fails to register Kraków mayoral candidate
The Konfederacja party failed to register its candidate, Bartosz Bocheńczak, for the early mayoral elections in Kraków after failing to collect the required number of valid signatures. Although approximately 5,000 signatures were initially gathered, many were deemed invalid due to incorrect PESEL numbers or being from residents outside of Kraków.
Internal friction has emerged within the party regarding the failure. Representatives associated with Sławomir Mentzen have blamed the nationalist wing, specifically the Ruch Narodowy, alleging they provided only 18 signatures despite a prior agreement for a joint campaign. In response to the setback, Sławomir Mentzen has taken disciplinary action by removing Bocheńczak from his position as head of the Kraków district and suspending local structure officials. The matter has been referred to a party court to determine individual responsibility for the failure.
