Kongpei Port sees surge in cross-border tourism between Zhuhai and Macau
Cross-border tourism and family travel have seen a significant surge during the summer peak season. At the Kongpei Port, located between Zhuhai in China's Guangdong province and the Macau Special Administrative Region, heavy crowds were reported on August 8 and 9.
Data from the Kongpei border inspection station indicates that approximately 850,000 passenger crossings were inspected during the week. The increase in travelers is attributed to various cultural tourism programs and consumption promotion events held in Macau.
Peak travel times for departures toward Macau occur daily between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, while the busiest period for returning travelers is between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM. This influx has led to increased pressure on customs clearance processes.
