Kongsberg expands maritime presence in Philippines and tests missile system
Kongsberg Maritime has opened a new office in Manila to strengthen its presence in the Philippines. The office aims to provide a permanent base for coordinating simulation, propulsion, and maneuvering solutions, as well as spare parts and shipyard cooperation. This move builds on over 30 years of collaboration with the Philippine maritime community and seeks to support maritime academies, training centers, and government stakeholders with advanced simulation technology.
Separately, Kongsberg has successfully demonstrated a containerised Naval Strike Missile (NSM) system. The prototype, which packages four NSM missile canisters into a standard 20-foot ISO shipping container, was tested at a military range in Norway. Designed for rapid deployment via land sites, trucks, or maritime platforms, the system is intended to reduce time to market and provide a modular mission solution for customers seeking highly autonomous, long-range surface-to-surface guided weapons.
