Kongsberg Maritime secures contract for four offshore wind vessels

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract with IWS Fleet AS, a subsidiary of Integrated Wind Solutions, to provide vessel design and integrated technology solutions for four new Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs).

The new vessels will be part of the Skywalker Class, based on the UT 5519 DEx design. This agreement expands the Skywalker Class series to a total of ten vessels. The ships are specifically designed for the offshore wind sector, serving as advanced walk-to-work platforms that allow technicians to live and work offshore for extended periods. Each vessel is capable of accommodating up to 120 personnel.

The four newbuilds will be constructed by Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment in China. The vessels feature a double-ended design intended to facilitate efficient maneuvering and rapid transit between wind turbines to maximize productivity.
