Kongsberg Maritime secures major offshore technology contracts
Kongsberg Maritime has secured two significant contracts within the offshore energy sector. The company will provide a fully integrated suite of technology and equipment for a new multi-purpose deepwater installation and construction vessel. This vessel, which will be owned and operated by Solstad Offshore and SBM Offshore, is slated for construction in China.
The scope for the deepwater vessel includes advanced deck machinery such as anchor-handling winches, shark jaws, and tow pins designed for chains up to 220 mm, alongside a low-tilt ROV launch and recovery system. Kongsberg Maritime will also supply dynamic positioning, navigation, automation, and a comprehensive power package featuring a battery energy storage system.
In a separate agreement, Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract to deliver advanced deck machinery for a new Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for an offshore development in Asia. This contract includes mooring and deck machinery solutions, with delivery expected by mid-2027. IP Huse will handle the mechanical design of the machinery, which will be manufactured in Norway, while Kongsberg Maritime manages automation, control systems, and project execution.
