Koni De Winter faces criticism after Milan loss to Bologna

AC Milan defender Koni De Winter received significant criticism following a 2-4 home defeat against Bologna. While statistical analysis showed high efficiency in ball distribution, with a 95% pass accuracy on 105 attempts, his defensive performance was widely panned by Italian media.

Reports highlighted defensive lapses, including losing possession eight times and winning only one of four ground duels. Despite recording five defensive contributions and covering 9.6 km, his errors were cited as major factors in the loss.

The struggle highlights broader issues within the Milan squad, where injuries to players like Matteo Gabbia and Fikayo Tomori have forced limited rotation. Consequently, defenders such as De Winter and Strahinja Pavlović have been required to play consecutive matches without rest, prompting discussions regarding the need for January transfer reinforcements.
