Konitsa: Firefighting helicopter suffers mechanical failure during forest fire

A firefighting helicopter experienced a mechanical failure while battling a forest fire on Mount Tymphi, near the local community of Kallithea in the Konitsa region. The incident occurred during water collection operations.

The fire, which was reportedly triggered by a lightning strike, is situated in steep terrain at an altitude of 1,200 meters. Ground efforts to contain the blaze include a seven-member hiking firefighting unit and the participation of the Konitsa Municipality Civil Protection services. Both crew members of the helicopter are reported to be safe.
