Konjuh factory site in Živinice transforms into residential and business district

The former industrial site of the Konjuh factory in Živinice, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is undergoing a major transformation into a residential and business district. The site, once home to a prominent wood industry giant, is being repurposed through changes in planning documentation to accommodate residential buildings, business facilities, public buildings, and a shopping center.

Bankruptcy administrator Hajrudin Kunalić confirmed that Konjuh is selling land parcels to investors, with the proceeds being used to repay creditors and settle outstanding claims to workers. While Konjuh is not the developer, investors are actively building on the purchased plots. Current developments include a nearly completed residential building and a new police administration building.

The parcel designated for a shopping center has been sold to the Sarajevo-based company Neimari Inženjering. This sale has reignited speculation regarding the potential arrival of the German retail chain Lidl in the Tuzla Canton, as the site's dimensions align with the retailer's typical business model in the country. However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding which specific retail chain will occupy the center.
