Konkan Expressway project to connect Mumbai in three hours
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) aims to complete a detailed project report for a 388 km Konkan Expressway within three months. The proposed six-lane highway is estimated to cost approximately 25,000 crore rupees and is designed to reduce travel time between Mumbai and Konkan to roughly three hours.
To facilitate the project, the MSRDC will need to acquire 4,205.21 hectares of land. Once approved, the plan includes connecting the expressway to the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Highway and the Virar-Alibaug multipurpose corridor. The project seeks to address long-standing travel difficulties between Mumbai, Konkan, and Goa.
