Konopiště road construction project delayed until 2028

The planned road construction project near Konopiště has been delayed, with completion potentially pushed to 2028. According to the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD), the project was not included in the 2026 SFDI budget due to unsecured financial coverage. Future inclusion in the budget depends on state budget developments and available funds for new first-class road construction.

The project aims to improve safety and traffic flow on a busy section of the I/3 road. Key features include reconfiguring the road into a 2+1 lane system and reconstructing major intersections. A significant part of the plan involves lowering the road level by 3.5 to 6.5 meters in front of the Konopiště castle park to enhance pedestrian safety and create a covered section with park landscaping above.
