Konstantinos Mitsakis continues Silk Road motorcycle expedition in China

Greek rider Konstantinos Mitsakis is continuing his ‘Zontes Athens 2 Shanghai 2026’ expedition, traveling through the heart of China on a Zontes 703F motorcycle. Having departed from the Taklamakan Desert, the journey has transitioned from arid desert landscapes to the mountainous and greener regions of the Chinese interior.

During the recent leg of the trip, Mitsakis covered approximately 1,900 kilometers over four days, traveling through cities including Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Lanzhou, Longnan, and Chengdu. Key landmarks visited include the Mogao Caves, the Mingsashan National Park sand dunes, and the western end of the Great Wall at Jiayuguan.

With the arrival in Chengdu, the expedition has completed roughly two-thirds of the Chinese portion of the route, leaving approximately 2,100 kilometers remaining until the final destination of Shanghai.
