Konstanz renames lakeside path to honor Erwin Reisacher

The city of Konstanz has officially renamed a section of its lakeside path to Erwin-Reisacher-Weg. The renaming honors Erwin Reisacher (1924–1993), a long-time SPD city council member and chairman of the DGB district in Konstanz.

Reisacher is remembered for his successful efforts in the 1970s to democratize the Lake Constance shoreline by making the lakeside path publicly accessible, overcoming private ownership and legal hurdles. The new street name applies to the section between the yacht harbor and the pier at the Bodensee-Therme.

The decision follows a previous failed attempt to honor him in 1995. The current renaming was approved by the city council last year after a motion supported by the SPD, Junges Forum Konstanz, FGL, and the Linke Liste.
