Konstanz: Three seriously injured in severe traffic accident
A severe traffic accident occurred on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. at the Lago roundabout in Konstanz, Germany. An Audi driven by a 53-year-old man veered into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons, striking a truck exiting the roundabout.
The collision caused the Audi to strike a traffic island and a bollard before crashing into a transformer station. The driver and two female passengers, aged 54 and 19, sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. The 26-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries. The Audi was a total loss, and the truck sustained damage exceeding 10,000 euros.
The impact caused significant damage to the transformer station, forcing local utilities to shut off electricity. The accident also led to temporary disruptions in local bus services and restricted access to a nearby parking garage. Police cordoned off the roundabout and the Döbele roundabout during rescue and investigation efforts, though traffic flow resumed by approximately 3:15 p.m.
