Konya agricultural sector relies on Syrian seasonal workers

Syrian seasonal workers continue to participate in the agricultural sector in the Cihanbeyli district of Konya, Turkey. Some workers have been operating in the Konya plains for 14 years, performing various tasks such as garden cleaning, weeding, and harvesting cumin.

These laborers often move between regions depending on the season, working with mandarins or flowers in the Aegean region during winter before returning to Konya for the summer harvest. Workers have noted a sense of cultural integration and hospitality from the local residents in villages such as Kelhasan, Kandil, Beşkavak, and Çöl.
