Konya and Azerbaijan strengthen tourism cooperation

Tourism representatives from Turkey and Azerbaijan met at a seminar in Konya to strengthen bilateral travel ties and increase tourist traffic between the two nations. The event, held at Novotel Konya, focused on promoting Azerbaijan as a year-round destination for travelers from the Konya region.

Key participants included Seyit İbrahim Durmuş, President of the TÜRSAB Konya Regional Representative Board, and Günel Mammadova, Turkey Director for the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau. Mammadova highlighted that Turkish citizens can travel to Azerbaijan using only their chip-enabled ID cards, without the need for a passport. She emphasized Azerbaijan’s diverse offerings, including Baku, the Caucasus Mountains, gastronomy, ski resorts, and thermal springs.

Industry leaders expressed commitment to expanding tour routes. Seyit İbrahim Durmuş noted Konya’s strong travel agency infrastructure and pledged to increase the number of tourists sent to Azerbaijan, while also facilitating reciprocal tourism to Konya. Hüseyin Kurt, a Globe Meets co-founder, invited residents of Konya to explore Azerbaijan’s potential across all four seasons.
