Konya harvest season prompts combine‑harvester inspections and fire‑prevention warnings

As the wheat harvest begins in Konya’s Tuzlukçu district, the provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate has intensified inspections of combine harvesters. Inspectors stop machines in the field to measure grain loss, verify fire‑extinguishing equipment, and confirm operators hold the required certifications, aiming to protect farmers’ yields and ensure safe harvesting.

The Konya Governor’s Office issued a public warning urging all participants in the harvest to follow simple fire‑safety measures, such as not burning straw, avoiding discarded cigarettes or glass bottles, keeping fire‑extinguishers on machinery, and having water‑filled sprayers or tankers ready. Citizens are instructed to call emergency services immediately if a fire occurs, emphasizing that preventing small incidents can avoid irreversible losses.

Both agencies state that the inspections and safety measures will continue throughout the harvest period to safeguard the year’s labor and natural environment.
