Konya Heavy Maintenance Facility Relocation Begins
Konya Metropolitan Municipality has started moving the Heavy Maintenance Facility, a major urban transformation project announced by Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay. The new complex, built on a 600,000 m² site with a five‑billion‑lira investment, will host hundreds of tanks and military vehicles transferred from the former 56th Maintenance Factory located between Meram Yeniyol and Meram Eskiyol.
Once the relocation is completed, the original 640,000 m² area will be handed over to the municipality for redevelopment, planned to include green spaces, training grounds, health centres and other social infrastructure, thereby reshaping the city centre and enhancing residents' quality of life.
