Bilecik woman survives rare coronary artery tear
A 35-year-old woman in Bilecik, Turkey, survived a rare medical emergency after suffering a left main coronary dissection while performing household tasks. İnci Malcı experienced sudden, intense chest and arm pain, leading to a loss of consciousness and pulse.
Following emergency first aid administered by her husband, Malcı was transferred through several hospitals before being referred to Yunus Emre State Hospital in Eskişehir. Medical professionals identified the condition as a tear in the main artery supplying the heart, a phenomenon described by Dr. Muharrem Şenel as a “one in a million” occurrence.
Malcı underwent successful emergency coronary bypass surgery. Doctors noted that the patient had no known chronic health issues or risk factors such as diabetes or high blood pressure prior to the incident.
