Konya hosts symposium on Quranic verses and botanical science

The “Plants Symposium in the Light of Quranic Verses and Scientific Data” has commenced in Konya, organized through a collaboration between the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. The event brings together academics, researchers, and scholars to examine the relationship between Quranic verses and scientific findings using an interdisciplinary approach.

Abdurrahman Haçkalı, President of the High Board of Religious Affairs, stated that the primary goal is to achieve a correct understanding of the Quran by encouraging reflection and research. He noted that as human influence over nature increases through genetic modification and agricultural transformation, there is a growing responsibility to establish an ethical framework regarding biodiversity, water usage, and soil preservation.

Mustafa Uzbaş, Deputy Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized that the symposium aims to unite different disciplines on a common scientific ground to provide new horizons for research and thought.
